Background to the strategy
Every day, child and family support services strive to protect children and young people and keep them more than safe. We need to continue our efforts to build and strengthen families and communities to care for their children, through responsive and high quality support services.
The QFCC worked in collaboration with the sector (community, non-government and government) to develop the Strengthening our sector: A strategy for working together for a responsive and sustainable service system across the child and family support sector (PDF, 292KB). It sets out the path we need to travel together to ensure the child and family support sector is the best it can be.
Alongside the strategy, we have developed two action plans focused on delivering real improvements.
The First action plan 2016-17 (PDF, 80KB) set the foundations for strengthening the capacity and capability of our sector, and building a positive and collaborative culture across child and family practice.
The Second action plan 2017-19 (PDF, 139KB) takes the achievements and learnings so far, and details a way forward for building a more sustainable and responsive child and family support system in Queensland.
Our focus is on:
- strengthening our workforce
- strengthening our organisations
- strengthening our professional culture
- harnessing the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and communities.
While the QFCC is responsible for leading this change, we cannot work in isolation. We all own the development of our sector.
Together, we can deliver more and better services to support children, young people, families and communities.
